KVK, Bhadrak, Orissa University of Agriculture & Technology, Bhubaneswar, Odisha has been awarded Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Krishi Vigyan Protshahan Puraskar, 2017 for Zone V. The KVK has played a major role in creating job opportunities and self-employment opportunities among rural youth through skill enhancement and entrepreneurship development. The KVK has taken pioneering efforts in promoting a wide range of improved technologies and package of practices in the field of agriculture and allied areas. The KVK has developed and promoted a number of agricultural technologies including zero till planting of mustard, mechanised direct seeded rice, multiple cropping pattern in pisciculture, off season mushroom production, which has improved the income and the livelihood of the

Due to the painstaking effort taken by the KVK along with other stakeholders, remarkable strides have been achieved by the district in fish and mushroom production. In order to manage the problem of vast rice fallows due to non-availability of irrigation water, the KVK has taken efforts to promote pulse crops in this region. The pulse and oilseeds have also been promoted in the irrigated areas for better income. Initiatives have been taken for the development of entrepreneurship targeting unemployed rural youth particularly in quality fish seed production, composite fish farming, mushroom cultivation, vegetable farming, poultry production and integrated farming system. In recognition of achievements made by the KVK, it was bestowed the Best KVK Award by the OUAT, Bhubaneswar during the year 2016.
